DigiCult first appeared on the independent UK scene in 2001 – a short film strand funded by the UK Film Council in Scotland through the Glasgow Media Access Centre (GMAC). In 2007 the strand was wound down then resurrected in 2008 through a new independent company, set-up by Paul Welsh and partner producer David Smith.

Since DigiCult’s first ground-breaking GMAC commissions, their films have gone on to be nominated (and sometimes won) BAFTA and BIFA awards, the Golden Bear (Berlin), EIFF’s McLaren Animation Award, the Silver Lion (Venice), and featured in numerous international competition selections for Best Live Action, Animation and Documentary Shorts (including Encounters, Upsala, EIFF, Flickerfest).

In 2014, with their successful festival & award run now complete, a selection of films from the 2010-2012 slate have been programmed for touring to cinemas across Scotland & the UK. From Animation to Horror; Romance to Comedy; Drama to Documentary – DigiCult’s Scottish Shorts celebrate the bright new voices of Scottish cinema with stories that’ll make you chortle, greet, gawp n’ tweet. Your eyes, hearts and minds will be lifted by these cutting edge tales from the very best of Scotland’s new filmmaking talent.

This is Programme 1 of the Scottish Shorts Tour. Look out for another 2 programmes happening in FEB and MAR at The Pickaquoy Phoenix Cinema
